#About

I'm Blessing Emole, a London-born Nigerian who grew up in San Francisco, California; Perth, Australia; Dhaka, Bangladesh; Bangkok, Thailand; Lagos, Nigeria; and Syracuse, New York. I currently live in Brooklyn.

I'm an equitable designer focused on bringing accessibility to the forefront. As a UX Designer and Researcher at NYU Tandon, I led a team of 20 students in researching, designing, and developing inclusive AR filters using Spark AR.

Starting my career as a journalist, I took an unconventional path into UX. My background empowers me with an innate ability to ask profound questions, listen for nuance, and observe user behaviour to build innovative and inclusive systems.

My natural curiosity and multicultural perspective drive me to explore new places and learn from those living there.

Outside of Design

As we know, life isn’t always about work. In my free time, I enjoy walking around Brooklyn admiring the different neighbourhoods and hidden gems. On a rainy night, you can find me sitting at my dining room table where a 1000-piece puzzle has claimed its rightful spot. Whenever I get a chance to get away, I always find my way to a waterfall.

#My Process

  • How do you truly understand the scope of a project or the expectation of a product? Through questions. Every question unlocks the door to a clearer picture.

  • Nothing good or lasting happens without a holistic understanding of the problem space. Research is a necessary part of any project whether big or small, it paves the way.

  • Risks lead to rewards. Most good ideas come from trusting yourself and taking a leap. Design & Iteration is a risk. It’s allowing yourself to say: “It’s not good enough yet, what else can be done?”

  • You can’t achieve everything by yourself. Building anything good takes a community, multiple perspectives and wide considerations. Testing reveals successes or problem areas, both are necessary for a great product.
